Different Types and Cleaning Abilities of Industrial Floor Scrubbers

Investing in commercial cleaning equipment is a big step for any business. One machine that can truly help maintain a clean business establishment is an industrial floor scrubber, and it can be a smart investment in the long run.

General Operation

Industrial floor cleaning machines are now built to be easier to use, safer to operate, and also more able to conserve energy and water. Industrial floor scrubbers, in general, work through a system of brushes and vacuums.

As the machine passes over the floor area to be cleaned, water and cleaning solution is sprayed onto the area, and brushes scrub the surface. The dirty water and debris are sucked up by the vacuum and stored in a waste hopper for emptying later.

Walk Behind Scrubbers

The more compact type, walk behind scrubbers are pushed like a cart across the floor that is being cleaned. Typically, they are narrower and consume less energy. This type can be used to clean aisles or narrow corridors, and it can easily be stowed away in a closet after use.

Ride On Scrubbers

As the name implies, this type of scrubber requires the operator to be seated on it as he steers the machine around the places to be cleaned. Generally, companies that use ride on scrubbers have larger floor areas that need to be maintained. The water tanks and brushes are also larger than those on walk behind scrubbers.

Additional Features and Benefits

Industrial floor scrubbers have different power sources depending on the size and model. Some scrubbers operate via a wall socket, while others require fuel or even run on a battery pack. Also, in terms of safety, for ride on scrubbers in particular, there are automatic shut-off switches beneath the operator’s seat. This turns off the machine when no one is running it.

Both the walk behind scrubbers and ride on types are equipped with water tanks that are geared towards conserving water. Specialized sprays deploy that ample volume of liquid without any excess. This prevents the operator from having to refill the tank often, and this also helps to shorten his time spent while cleaning.
